First Year Sharks Make a Splash at USATF Wisconsin

June 11, 2016

Four athletes new to the Madison Area East Side Sharks Track Club jumped into their first club meet with a big splash. Brett Clevidence (16) of Cottage Grove and Monona Grove High School, entered the 17/18 age group 110m High Hurdles, Javelin, and 200m dash. Brett posted an impressive 118’-10” in the javelin, despite having picked up the implement for the first time just weeks ago, winning the silver medal. He also finished 4th in the hurdles, and completed his first ever 200 meter dash. Jacob Fisher (14), of Madison and an incoming freshman at Monona Grove High School jumped into the scene in a big way. Jacob completed his first pentathlon (100m hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, and 1500m run) on Thursday the 9th. Returning on Saturday the 11th, Jacob participated in the 100m dash, 400m dash, and Javelin. He appears to be gearing up to enter the decathlon next season, and his enthusiastic effort brought home the gold in the Javelin, the bronze in the 100m dash, and a wealth of new experiences and excitement. Newcomer Ryhs Enderle (17) from Madison West High School entered the shot put and discus and brought home gold with a throw of 49’-7 in shot and silver with the discus flying 131’-4”. Ben Galles (13) of Madison and Sennett Middle School, was introduced to the Shot Put and Javelin and earned the 13/14 silver medal in both with throws of 22’-9” and 76’-5” respectively. Congratulations to all our rookie qualifiers as they move on to challenge the district qualifiers from Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska at the USATF Region 8 Qualifier at Minnesota State Mankato on July 7th-10th.
